Composting has arrived at the Senior Center!
The Climate Action Team – a joint initiative between the Senior Center and the Public Health Department and comprised of Town Staff and members of the Senior Center are excited to announce that our brand-new Black Earth compost bin has arrived. This exciting addition to our Center allows members to bring their compost to the Center for disposal.
By locating a public compost bin which will be open during Senior Center hours, the Town is making composting accessible to all ages. Seniors will be able to bring compost collected at home to the Center for disposal. Incentive plans detailed further in this section of our website, including our countertop bin liner exchange program will encourage members to participate in this earth-saving initiative by eliminating barriers commonly associated home composting including cost and lack of access.
On Monday 6/20/23 we began to pair composting with our meal service. We have many educational and outreach opportunities planned for the near future to help our members and the community learn how easy and rewarding this small but extremely meaningful step will be!

Our bin is located next to the kitchen (back entrance of the Senior Center). Members may dispose of their compost directly into this bin or come to the front desk for assistance.
