Composting at the Senior Center is easy!

During the summer of 2023, The Climate Action Team  – a joint initiative between the Senior Center and the Public Health Department and comprised of TownStaff successfully advocated for the Swampscott Senior Center to become one of three, free composting drop-off sites in town.  Our Black Earth compost bin is located in the breezeway by our back (kitchen) entrance.  This bin is open anytime during regular business hours which has helped to make composting more accessible to all ages.

Additionally, our bin-liner exchange program provides a free compostable bin liner to every Senior Center member who drops off compost in our bin.  Simply dispose of your compost and come into the Center for a new liner.

Here is how it works:

Where is our bin located?

Our bin is located next to the kitchen (back entrance of the Senior Center).  Members may dispose of their compost directly into this bin or come to the front desk for assistance.
