Social Services

Outreach staff at the Senior Center can help members determine eligibility, access and complete applications for benefits and entitlements such as fuel assistance, S.N.A.P, Commodity Supplement Food Program (CSFP), Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, Senior reduced fare Charlie Card applications and much more.  We assist with housing applications, information and referral and actively collaborate with Greater Lynn Senior Services regarding referrals for Meals on Wheels, home care and other vital senior health programs.  The Senior Center also works collaboratively with local community service agencies, civic and volunteer organization including Anchor Food Pantry, SPUR and Rotary.

Benefits Checkup

Benefits Checkup is an online tool that screens your eligibility for federal and state benefit programs that are available to help. You can apply for many of the programs online or you can print an application form from the website. The website is www.benefitscheckup.org/mcoa or you can call the Senior Center for help.

Understanding Elder Abuse

Elder abuse is defined as any knowing, intentional or negligent act by a caregiver or any other person that causes harm or a serious risk of harm to a vulnerable adult. Abuse may be physical, neglect, exploitation, emotional, abandonment or self-neglect. Elder abuse may be reported 24 hours a day (800) 922-2275.  Elder Protective Services investigates cases of abuse for individuals ages 60 or older.

For concerns related to vulnerable adults under the age of 60, call the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (800) 426-9009.  To report abuse of a person in a nursing home or hospital, call the Department of Public Health (800) 462-5540. Call 911 if you have an emergency or life-threatening situation. Reporting is anonymous.
