Support and Education

The Senior Center frequently holds educational seminars on topics related to independent and empowered aging.  We feature speakers on topics that range from home safety, cybersecurity, safe driving, nutrition and much more.  We are currently running two drop-in support groups.

Succeeding as a Solo Senior

Succeeding as a Solo Senior meets from 12-1 on the first and third Thursday of each month in person at the Senior Center.  This inclusive group welcomes all members who live alone and covers topics such as relationships, forming social support systems, downsizing, healthcare decisions, cooking for one and so much more.  Members often enjoy bringing their own lunch or buying a hot prepared meal at the Senior Center and eating with each other before or during the Solo Senior Group.  Drop in – no reservations are needed.

Caregiver Support Group

The Center also sponsors a weekly virtual Caregiver Support Group that meets on Wednesdays from 1-2.  This group welcomes all Caregivers of loved ones who are coping with progressive illness.  By meeting virtually, we hope to be able to reach all Caregivers in the most convenient manner. By the Sea Memory Cafe with Siobhan McDonald

By the Sea Memory Cafe is for caregivers and their loved ones to enjoy a fun event or activity while also providing a much-needed break from their daily routines.  Our memory cafe provides an outlet for caregivers, but can also become a source of ideas, information, connection and support.  Activities will consist of engaging and interactive entertainers, crafts and storytelling.  Refreshments will always be provided.  Memory Cafe is free and meets on the third Tuesday of every month from 1-2 pm at the Swampscott Senior Center.  Call (781) 596-8866 to reserve your spot.
